Meet The Locals 2022 at Fronteer Gallery
2022 is kicking off with a new exhibition and a new gallery. It's my first time showing with Fronteer Gallery in Sheffield.
'Meet the Locals' opened this week and showcases work by artists from South Yorkshire and the surrounding area. I'm delighted to have one of my landscape paintings, Umbilical featured (see head of post), plus there's a fantastic mix of contemporary painting, sculpture, and printmaking available.
Opened in October 2020 at Exchange Street, (now moved to Orchard Square - Ed. Jan 25) from an old Greggs bakery shop (and complete with interesting remnants of its bakery past), Fronteer is a vibrant and quirky gallery in the heart of Sheffield City Centre, run by artist Sharon Borkowsky (formerly Mossbeck) and Michael Borkowsky. They've been collaborating on exhibitions, events and open calls since 2014 and aim to provide an inclusive and supportive exhibition platform for all artists, including regular events and workshops.
As artists they both have a studio at Exchange Place Studios, just around the corner from the gallery.
Fronteer Gallery is open:
Wednesdays - Fridays: 10-3pm
Saturdays: 2-6pm
And also Sunday 16th January 11am-2pm (to coincide with 'Pollen', Sheffield's monthly flower market).
If you fancy coming over to Sheffield for a visit, the private view is this Saturday (8th January) 6pm-7.30pm, when the gallery will also open their partner exhibition 'Celestial Bodies' in the basement exhibition space.
'Meet the Locals' runs until 22nd January, and 'Celestial Bodies' until 5th February 2022, so chase away the post-Christmas-chocolate-detox-wintery-blues by enjoying some fab art.
