Artist Support Pledge

Artist Support Pledge is a culture and economy in support of artists and makers, established and led by artist Matthew Burrows MBE in March 2020, originally in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Initially designed to help artists sell work and survive while our galleries, exhibitions and other income streams were closed during the pandemic, with overwhelming success it's now a global movement of connected communities, committed to an equitable and sustainable economy for artists and makers of all countries, media and ethnicities.

The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work for sale on Instagram using the #artistsupportpledge hashtag, including details and the price (no more than £220, exclusive of shipping). If people are interested in buying, they message (DM) the artist.

Anyone can buy the work, and artists don’t need permission to join. Every time an artist reaches £1100 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist/s work.

So for every £1100 I make from sales of my work under the Artist Support Pledge (either on site or directly through Instagram), I will spend £220 on the work of another artist.

I’ll be adding new work to my shop here after I’ve posted them under the #artistsupportpledge hashtag on my Instagram feed—so if you want to see them as soon as they come up, follow me on Instagram at @juliabrownart.

As an extra ‘Thank You’ for supporting me and the #ASP culture of generousity, you’ll get free UK delivery by using the coupon code ‘FREEDELIVERYUK‘ at the checkout.
