This was a morning walk in winter sunlight: crisp air, crunchy snow on the ground. I was trying out the new walking boots my Dad had bought me for Christmas (he's a keen walker as well).

The stone gatepost was a feature in the landscape that could easily have been be passed by without a second glance (especially as the view behind it is a breathtaking vista west to the Pennine Moors, and I was puffing my way up a massive hill).

Then the light caught it, and suddenly there was all this richness—colour, contrast, texture, presence. The kind of thing that makes you stop for a moment, breathe deeply and take the day in properly.

An atmospheric mixed media on paper landscape painting, playing with the relationship between bright morning light and deep shadow. Features layers of gestural marks, paint textures, pastel and wax crayon.

Note on framing: This artwork will be framed (on request) in a contemporary minimal frame with a neutral white mount.

Please note: I cannot ship the framed artwork overseas due to the glazing being too fragile to transport. Please order the artwork unframed if you’d like to purchase from outside the mainland UK.

Once your order has been processed, I will be in touch within 48hrs to arrange a convenient delivery date.

Returns:

Artworks can be returned (insured) providing they are undamaged and in all of the original packaging.

If you would like to return a purchase, or in the unfortunate event your purchase arrives damaged, please follow the steps on the How to Return Artworks page.

I do not accept returns on sale/discounted items, bespoke framed artwork, or any artwork that is made to commission or personalised in any way.

Packaging

Original artwork is signed (sometimes on the reverse), wrapped in oil-resistant glassine paper (or tissue if a non-oil based media), and layers of protective packaging, before being boxed. Corners are protected and the package is marked fragile so that it arrives in pristine condition ready for you to hang.

Each original includes a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artist for provenance.
