Inspiration:
The Moment That You Want is Coming is an uplifting abstract landscape painting from my Komorebi series, painted in oil on canvas. It’s about that quiet, hopeful pause where the world and your nervous system softens for a moment.
The inspiration started under a city maple tree on a sharp October morning. The air cold enough to bite but the sun warm. I stood there, longer than I meant to, under the tree with leaves lit up like stained glass. Flaming red against deep blue sky. For the first time in weeks, I felt a little lighter. A flicker of optimism―something good was edging closer.
It’s about that feeling when light filters through trees and it catches you and takes your breath, just for a second, in the middle of an ordinary day. Maybe you’re walking the dog, maybe you have a moment with a coffee before the emails start kicking off.
I built up the surface with splattered and poured oil paint, then layers of opaque colour and translucent glazes, so the painting shifts gently as the light changes during the day. Up close, you can see the process―splatters, brushmarks, textures and the spaces between them. From across the room, it reads as a softly moving, nature-inspired abstract painting, quietly anchoring the space. It asks you to stop for a second, breathe, and just…be.
A piece that adds depth and atmosphere, it’s suitable for display over a console table or chest of drawers, in a reading corner, or home office. If you love autumn trees, quiet moments and art that keeps you company rather than taking over the room, this is perfect for you.
