From a collection of ink paintings created in response to one of my walks around our local area.

“The summer was coming to an end, and the sun had that golden, dusty light as it flickered through the towering seed heads and vegetation moving in the breeze.
I wanted the shapes I described to be something both intangible yet instantly recognisable—solid objects, the space in between them, and the atmosphere created by light, shade and colour.”

Please note: this painting has rough, uneven edges that give it its own particular character.

Note on framing: The painting will be mounted with a neutral white conservation mount and framed in a slim, contemporary black frame.

About the Artist

Julia Brown is a UK-based painter creating quiet, immersive works rooted in light, texture and the natural world. Her paintings invite stillness, reflection, and sensory connection.

Her work explores the emotional experience of place—especially the fleeting beauty of Komorebi—the Japanese concept of sunlight filtering through trees.

She exhibits regularly across the UK, has been shortlisted for the New Light Art Prize and the Cooper Prize, and teaches at North Light Art School in West Yorkshire.
